FORMER C.I.A. DIRECTOR JAMES WOOLSEY IN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL WRITES ... "Three months ago the Defense Intelligence Agency reported that by 2015 Iran, with help from North Korea or Russia, could field an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching the East Coast of the United States ... In early 2009, the Iranians successfully launched their first homegrown satellite into orbit ... If Tehran were to achieve a nuclear missile capability, it could hold American cities hostage - unless, that is, the U.S. builds a robust and comprehensive ballistic missile defense" (7/14/10; A-19). Joe Klein in TIME writes, "Everyone from the Turks to the Egyptians to the Jordanians are threatening to go nuclear if Iran does" (7/15/10). Secretary of Defense Robert Gates told Fox News on June 20, "I don't think we're prepared to even talk about containing a nuclear Iran." General Stanley McChrystal, the former top commander in Afghanistan, said there is clear evidence that Iran is arming and training the Taliban. The U. S. State Department says Iran provides funds and weapons to Hamas. In another part of the world the U.S. is conducting maneuvers off Korea's east coast in cooperation with South Korea. North Korea has called the drills an "unpardonable provocation" and threatened "sacred war." It is all but certain the will and wisdom of our young President is going to be tested. The clock is ticking toward a confrontation in the Middle East.
JESUS SAID THERE WOULD BE "WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS" AS A SIGN OF HIS SECOND COMING ... the Bible says much about the future. One of Jesus' most thought provoking sermons was Matthew 24 - 25 and its theme is the Second Coming of Christ. The sermon was given in response to a question from the disciples, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world" (Matthew 24:3). Unfortunately, Matthew 24 - 25 is a misunderstood portion of Scripture. But it can be understood, and it has far-reaching impact on our lives! In Matthew 24:4-14 Jesus describes several signs that will precede His second coming. What are these signs? How do we properly interpret them? What type of timetable does their fulfillment signify?
